Winter on the East End has a different kind of magic. The crowds thin out, the light turns gold over the water, and the best tables are the coziest ones. This season, the coziest table on Long Island is back: the Waterfront Igloo at Cowfish, a private heated dome perched on our second-floor patio directly above the Shinnecock Canal in Hampton Bays.

Reservations are open now for dates starting Friday, November 13, 2026, and the igloo runs through March. There’s only one, so if you’re looking for igloo dining on Long Island with a view you won’t find anywhere else, now’s the time to grab your date.

The only igloo on Long Island perched above the water

Plenty of restaurants set up winter domes on a patio or in a parking lot. Ours sits one story up, right over the canal, with the docks, the boats and the bay spread out below you. It’s waterfront dining in Hampton Bays in its coziest form: you get the full view of the water without ever feeling the cold.

Inside, the igloo is fully heated and completely private. It seats up to eight guests, so it works just as well for a date night for two as it does for the whole crew. Every reservation comes with a Bluetooth speaker so you can play your own playlist and set the mood however you like.

See why everyone was talking about it last winter

Last season, our igloo reel became one of the most-watched videos Cowfish has ever posted, and the dates that followed filled up fast. Take a look:

What to eat and drink in the igloo

The igloo isn’t a limited menu or a set package. You order from the full Cowfish menu, the same New American cooking that blends the best of land and sea and keeps our regulars coming back all year.

Guest favorites to start

  • Clam Chowder, a Hamptons favorite and one of our best-selling dishes all winter
  • Jumbo Buffalo Shrimp with Danish blue cheese
  • Spinach & Artichoke Dip with warm tortilla chips
  • Skillet Cornbread with honey butter

For the main event

  • Danish Baby Back Ribs, fall-off-the-bone with house-made BBQ
  • Braised Short Rib with whipped potato purée and foie gras butter
  • Miso Glazed Salmon with caramelized wild mushrooms
  • Center Cut Filet or the Prime Cowboy Ribeye, both Certified Angus Beef® and served with a loaded baked potato
  • The Cowfish Burger, our most-ordered dish of last winter

Save room

The warm Iron Skillet Cookie is a must. Banana Cream Pie and a Hot Fudge Sundae are close behind.

From the bar

Our Caribbean Rum Punch, Home Wrecker and Cold Brew Martini were the bar’s top cocktails last winter, and the Cold Brew Martini might be the perfect igloo drink. Going spirit-free? Our house-made mocktails, like the Spicy Grapefruit Refresher and Seasonal Berry Spritz, are made with the same care as our cocktails.

Made for the moments worth celebrating

The igloo turns an ordinary dinner into a night you’ll talk about. A few of our favorite ways to use it:

  • Date night on Long Island that actually feels different: just the two of you, your own music and the water below.
  • Birthdays and anniversaries for up to eight, with a private space to celebrate.
  • Small holiday gatherings. Cowfish is decked out for the season in December, and the igloo is the coziest seat in the house.
  • A gift with a view. Book a night for someone special, or pair it with a Rooted Hospitality Group gift card for the meal.
  • The week between Christmas and New Year’s, when everyone’s off, family is in town and a winter staycation in the Hamptons sounds just right.
